JOSH SEMBACH ON AEROSPACE DESIGN
As CIT’s aerospace business rapidly grows, we caught up with Josh Sembach, Lead Design Engineer for aerospace, to learn more about what’s happening.
You moved from rack Design Engineering to Aerospace, what was that transition like?
Sembach: The move from rack design to aerospace design was slow and steady. As CIT placed more and more emphasis on this product line, the demand and workload grew. It went from being part-time fill-in work to being all-consuming. I was pretty much fully immersed in aerospace before it became my job title/description.
What types of things do you do in your daily work?
Sembach: Daily tasks include interacting with our internal team as well as our various customers. I am designing new container builds while also managing current designs. My time is spent in the office for many engineering functions , but also on the production floor interacting with product that is in process.
How does it help CIT and it’s Aero Customers to have a dedicated Aero Design Engineer on the team?
Sembach: CIT and its AERO customers benefit from having a dedicated design engineer, as someone is staying familiar and connected with their product. It is a fast-paced position that oversees a lot of information. The continuity that is now in place ensures that customer specs are being met and that we remain compliant with their requirements.
What does the future look like with the Aero work?
Sembach: The future of aerospace work at CIT is exciting. Our customer base is growing, as well as increased volume with current customers. CIT is investing in this growth, through personnel, processes, and capital improvements. The aerospace product line adds onto our already diverse portfolio.
